Omacatl: Drinking Chocolate the Monty’s Way
So many drinking chocolates couldn’t be further from the truth; pale and feeble imitations of true chocolate; mere cocoa powder and sugar with none of that real chocolate stuff. Our chocolate for drinking is super rich and made from huge blocks of our house-blended chocolate that we shave down.
It’s so good we even have the cheek to add some instructions just in case you can’t work out how to make it. You could of course just eat it straight from the bag!
Omacatl, pronounced “ommercattle”, was the Aztec god of feast and joy, and we like to think he makes a great figurehead for our organic chocolate for drinking. Emperor Montezuma is reputed to have drunk up to fifty goblets a day to help ‘entertain’ his harem; not realising of course it was a mild laxative in the raw form he enjoyed so much!

Omacatl Uno
This is your starting point in exploring the range. Made with organic dark chocolate with 54% cocoa and no added sugar or other rubbish to confuse the taste.
Just spoon some into a mug, pour on a small amount of hot water to help dissolve and then top up with your favourite hot milk. Try sprinkling some on top.

Omacatl Dos
If you want some added spring in your step try this dark chocolate drink with just an added hint of ground chilli.
We are told that the Aztecs liked a drink called 'chocolatl' which by our standards was a bitter and unpalatable mix of cocoa beans, maize meal and chilli. We hope you agree this is somewhat better than their concoction.

Omacatl Tres
Milk chocolate in a mug. Simply using milk chocolate with just the tiniest hint of nutmeg makes this rich and creamy, and that's before the hot milk is in.
If you really want to pamper yourself once in a while, add some thick cream and an extra spoonful of chocolate on top.

Omacatl Quatro
White chocolate for drinking may sound too sweet to even contemplate, and while we won't argue about having to have a sweet tooth to enjoy this tipple, we get great customer feedback and among the Monty's team it is one of the most popular 'take home' products. If you like white chocolate give it a go.
