For many years now, we have worked with an amazing charity, Children on the Edge who are based in our home town of Chichester and work tirelessly for those children around the world who are literally, ‘on the edge’. We have big ideals and small pockets so we try to be creative about how we help. For the last five years we have run the ‘bags of cash scheme’ where our store customers are asked to donate a coin for every carrier bag they use when making purchases. Nearly £60,000 has been raised since the scheme started.

We also partner Children on the Edge with many other events including the Easter Chocolate Trail in Chichester and we are one of the major sponsors of the Children on the Edge Chichester Half Marathon, which last year raised £32,000. Staff from Montezuma’s have visited some of the COTE projects and seen the impact their fundraising can have. Demelza, who heads up our mail order centre, visited their Child Friendly Space in Moldova in 2010 and Wesley, our General Operations Manager also spent 10 days in Uganda in 2015 at the COTE playscheme.

In 2014, so-founders Helen and Simon cycled the entire length of the Pyrenees – that’s 720km and 22 cols or peaks! Their small team of four raised nearly £15.000. As you can probably tell, we love Children on the Edge and everything they do. Read more about their amazing work www.childrenontheedge.org and you’ll understand why we are so proud to help in our small way.

Children on the Edge Fundraising Month

Throughout October, staff and customers across our 6-stores and head office were encouraged to take part in a range of activities and challenges to raise much needed funds for our official charity partner, Children on the Edge. COTE works to restore the ingredients of a full childhood to forgotten children, living on the edge of their societies, and we have … Continue reading

The Tough Mudder half is a 5.4 mile run with 14 different and daunting obstacles to overcome as a … Continue reading

Working with Children on the Edge in Uganda part 2

The Question of Hope After a day or two in Loco I began thinking about COTE’s aim of restoring the ingredients of a full childhood through “hope, life, colour and fun”. I’m confident that the children have at least three of these four to look forward to; they know how to have fun and there is plenty of colour around, … Continue reading

My Montezuma’s Work Experience by Lucy Beauvallet

Hi, I’m Lucy and I’ve been lucky enough to do work experience all of this week at this great company! Having previously worked at an accounting firm, it was a bit of a culture shock (see what I did there… nice chocolate bar reference) to be sat in the unique, bubbly and most importantly fun atmosphere of the trade team! … Continue reading

Guest Blog article from Ben Wilkes at Children on the Edge “If I could work with any company in the world, it would be Montezuma’s” Don’t say it, I know what you are thinking. ‘You would say that wouldn’t you’, ‘You are just sucking up to the boss’ ‘You want some free stuff’ etc etc. Well its not any … Continue reading

Montezuma’s Co-Founders complete Cycling Challenge

Wooohooooooooo!!! This has become my new battle cry. It sounds fantastically childish but it’s the sound that felt most appropriate as we travelled through the Pyrenean mountains, both up and down. To me, it’s a cry of huge celebration and I’m fairly sure I first uttered it on this trip just seconds into the descent off the first col. Looking … Continue reading
