Good food, Good Mood!

Good food, Good Mood!

It goes without saying, that here at Montezuma’s we love chocolate, but what you may not know is that we’re all about balance; eating what we love and staying healthy in both body and spirit. It is no secret that chocolate is not normally considered the healthiest food in the world, however it can make you feel good and there is a good reason for that. This Saturday is World Mental Health Day so it is a great time to highlight how Montezuma’s extraordinary chocolate can play a role in your mental health.

For the love of chocolate!

Chocolate is undoubtedly, one of humankind’s finest creations. Chocolate gifts have stood the test of time and continue to successfully convey feelings of love, gratitude, care and affection. A chocolate gift is bound to boost anyone’s mood. From wicker baskets for celebrating special occasions to milk bar libraries just to make someone’s day, we’ve got you covered.

Deliciously healthy

According to Psychology Today, the flavanols in cocoa activate anti-anxiety receptors. Eating chocolate and feeling less anxious at the same time, what’s not to love about that?

Researchers have shown that flavanols can also help with lowering blood sugar levels, and weight loss. But that is no excuse to just grab the closest, cheapest chocolate. It is important to choose your chocolate carefully. Make sure that it is made with pure cocoa and cocoa butter and does not contain vegetable oil to get the best quality, best tasting chocolate.

We love recipes that combine ingredients that are not only healthy but also delicious. Check out this deliciously, warming porridge bowl recipe, packed full of energy.

Always on the move

We know that chocolate can only play a minor role in benefiting a healthy mindset but balanced with an active lifestyle, it can have a huge impact on your mental health. At Montezuma’s we encourage an active lifestyle for everyone. We have sponsored the Chichester Half Marathon for the past 6 years, a fantastic event that raises funds for one of our other passions, the brilliant charity Children on the Edge.

We are also proud that we have our own extraordinary cycling race team, Montezuma’s Race team. Ran by our Montezuma’s founders, Simon and Helen, the team is committed to helping junior and U23 riders to excel in cycling. The team have had recent success competing in the first round of the National Trophy.
