Over 15 years ago, Children on the Edge a locally based charity, approached Montezuma’s to donate chocolate Easter eggs to support a fundraising campaign. When we learned about the work they did, we immediately connected and have been supporting them in as many ways as possible since then. Montezuma’s and Children on the Edge share the common goal of wanting to make a difference in a real, genuine, and entrepreneurial way, as well as identifying sustainable solutions to minimise our impact on the planet.

Over the last five years we have run the 'bags of cash scheme' where our store customers are asked to donate an amount (in cash) for every carrier bag they use when making purchases. This has been a fantastic success with over £250,000 raised since the scheme started. However, the amount donated has been declining as customers are increasingly using their own bags or simply choosing not to use bags.

We run a fundraising week every year to coincide with the October school half term and have exciting activities both in store and at HQ to raise as much money in as many creative ways as possible. Our staff auction and team bingo events are always very well supported!

Some of our staff have also been lucky enough to visit some of our projects and have been able to see, first-hand, the important impact of our fundraising. Children on the Edge supports over 15,000 of the world's most marginalised children to realise their rights, through the provision of education and the creation of protective environmentts. Our goal this year is to raise over £40,000 for Children on the Edge.

Micro donations matter

We are proud to announce that we have partnered with Pennies, an award winning micro-donation charity. From October 2020 onwards, you will be able to round up your shopping basket when paying online or donate 25p store. All donations will go directly to Charity.

*All of the money customers donate will go directly to charity, 90% to Children on the Edge and 10% to Pennies (registered charity no. 1122489) who use their percentage of donations to help grow the micro-donation movement and raise more funds for charities in the UK & Ireland.
