Life at Montezuma’s

Montezuma’s aims to create a fun-loving environment where everyone is inspired to be themselves without prejudice or discrimination. What matters most to us is that you can be “yourself” at work.

Whether it is the team in our Head Office, Factory or one of our Stores we do all we can to make sure Montezuma’s is a fun and fulfilling place to work.

Looking after our Wellbeing at work

When Helen and Simon founded Montezuma’s, the aim was to build a work environment that fitted around their growing family and passions for all things outdoors. Wellbeing to us is not just about mental health but physical health too! Yes we eat our fair share of chocolate but life is all about balance! Our fortnightly ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ initiative encourages everyone to get together in Head office. Maybe to get up from their desk with activities like stretching altogether, playing games or eating lunch or some delicious food someone has made!

Wellbeing means different things to different people which is why we have formed working groups to tackle topics big and small. From Diversity, Equality and Inclusion to Mental Health our teams meet regularly to find new initiatives that help everyone feel happy and comfortable at work.

Working to support local

Being part of the local community has always been big for us and we are passionate about helping people from many different backgrounds get a taste for the industry.

We have a strong relationship with the University of Chichester and regularly offer placements for students to work in many different departments including People and Culture, Finance and Marketing. Our co-founder Helen has also received an honorary MBA from the University and regularly talks to the business students about the journey of starting your own business.

The Benefits of working here (and yes, it’s more than just chocolate)

We know the one question you all want to know, we do offer a choc-tastic discount on our delicious products! All our team get 50% off our full range as well as opportunity to buy our bargain, slightly wonky chocolate straight from the Factory. There Is aways lots of chocolate about to enjoy too!

All work no play is definitely not a moto we want anything to do with! Our social committee especially love finding ways to add a bit of fun to our work day and get all of our teams together. Let’s just say we can get a little competitive from our annual badminton competition to our much anticipated email bingo as part of our Charity week, we do love any excuse to get head to head! Getting the teams together is very important to us and helps us keep that little chocolate company feel that we never want to let go of, this is why we hold social events such as our annual Montezuma’s party, Easter fun and Christmas Eve lunch.

All of our team get 25 days holiday a year as the world is there to be explored, after all that is how Helen and Simon found their love of chocolate on a trip to South America. On top of this everyone gets a Charity day to use as they like to support any cause close to their heart. For some this means working in a local food bank and for others it may be using their office skills to help a charity achieve things they usually don’t have the resource to do.

Birthdays are a day for celebrating which is why at Montezuma’s we give everyone their special day off so they can make the most of it! (as long as you meet the criteria!).
