Whether you're popping a few bars in your bag for a beach day, packing up a picnic, or just trying to stop your snack drawer from turning into a gooey mess, we’ve pulled together our best tips to help your Montezuma’s stay cool, calm and intact.
Chill Before You Head Out
Bit of an obvious one, but easy to forget: if you're taking chocolate out and about, pop it in the fridge beforehand. Giving it a head start with a few hours of chilling will help it cope better with the warm weather—especially if it's going in a car or picnic bag.
Chocolate + Sun = Meltdown
Chocolate really doesn’t enjoy sunbathing. Direct sunlight is the fast track to puddle-town, so try to keep your chocolate stash shaded wherever possible—definitely not on the dashboard or windowsill!
And just so you know—we do the same. If the UK temperature hits 25°C or above, we pause all online deliveries until things cool down a bit. Your chocolate deserves better than arriving half-melted, and we’ll always let you know if this affects your order.
Keep It Insulated
If you’re travelling with chocolate—especially on a warm day—an insulated lunch bag or cool box is your friend. Bonus points for chucking in an ice pack (just keep it separate from the chocolate so there’s no dampness involved).
And if you’ve got an airtight container to hand, even better. It’ll help shield your treats from moisture and temperature swings while you’re out and about.
Reach for the Dark Side
If you’re planning ahead for warmer weather, go for dark chocolate. It’s a bit sturdier in the heat thanks to its higher cocoa content, so it holds up better when things get toasty. Some of our summer-proof favourites:
