Book and Chocolate Pairings

Book and Chocolate Pairings

Nothing says Autumn like curling up on the sofa with a good book. Here at Montezuma’s, we think every good book needs a perfect chocolate pairing.

Take a look at our top picks below and share a picture with us on social media of what chocolate you are munching on with your book.

The forgotten Bookshop in Paris by Daisy Wood

From an exciting new voice in WWII historical fiction comes a tale of love, loss and a betrayal that echoes through generations.

The writer, Daisy Wood, choose ‘Darkside’ to accompany her book. Daisy told us that ‘a hint of bitterness under the creamy richness of milk chocolate compliments the story of love lost in the past but found anew in the present’. Both impossible to put down you will struggle not to eat the whole bar or finish the whole book in one go! At 51% cocoa this bar is the perfect level of rich and dark whilst still being smooth and creamy.

Circe by Madeleine Miller

Shortlisted for Waterstones Book of the Year 2018. The Song of Achilles’ author unspools a tantalising mythological tale of survival, transformation, revenge and women’s fight to be free.

For this fantastic fantasy read we would recommend our ‘Spice It Up’ bar. Chocolate and ginger are a match made in heaven with a fiery kick. A bold bar for a bold book that will keep you intrigued the whole way through.

Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney

Daisy Darker is an all-consuming tale of psychological suspense with a spectacular twist from the internationally bestselling author Alice Feeney

Our ‘Black Forest’ bar was just made for this book! To pair with a thriller we will allows reach for a dark chocolate bar but Black Forest has got to be one of our favourites. The sweet bursts of cherry make it super addictive just like the book.

Warrior Queens and Quiet Revolutionaries by Kate Mosse

We love celebrating women and their achievements here at Montezuma’s. Warrior Queens & Quiet Revolutionaries brings together Kate’s rich and detailed knowledge of unheard and under-heard women’s history. Split into ten sections, each covering a different category of women’s achievements in history.

Kate’s book deserves a true unsung hero of a bar to pair with it. Our ‘Happy Hippy’ bar has been in our range for many years and really is something special, just like the women in Kate’s book. With bold flavours of orange and geranium we think it’s quite extraordinary!
