Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday

What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a day to encourage people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a global movement that inspires people across the world to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity on the 29th November every year.

How you can give

Giving back is possible not just today but every day throughout the year thanks to our amazing partners over at Pennies. Pennies are the leaders of the microdonations movement and allow us to help customers make small donations at the checkout and together make a huge impact. For every penny donated by our customers we pledge to match this up to £20,000 every year!

Where your pennies go

Children on the Edge have been our charity partner for almost as long as we have been making chocolate. Montezuma’s and Children on the Edge share the common goal of wanting to make a difference in a real, genuine, and entrepreneurial way, as well as identifying sustainable solutions to minimise our impact on the planet. Their teams work hand-in-hand with communities across the world to support some of the world’s most marginalised children, in some of the toughest situations.

Since we started working with Pennies 2 years ago, our extraordinary customers have given their pennies generously and together helped us raise £38,790

This money has helped them to build 14 learning centres in Uganda supporting over 6,500 young refugee children. An extra 2,800 children have been able to learn in smaller cluster groups in their communities.

What next

We aren’t stopping here, and we know that our customers aren’t either! Despite tough times our customers have been continuing to give and helping us support Children on the Edge to support even more refugee children across Romania, Moldova, Lebanon, Uganda and Bangladesh.

For every £100 donated we can support a refugee child to learn and thrive for a whole year. All that takes is 25 people who make a purchase in each of our stores, each week, to click yes when asked to donate 50p at the till. Those pennies really do add up!
